Purpose of Sustainable Procurement Survey

In fiscal 2023, SKY Perfect JSAT Corporation conducted a questionnaire-based sustainable procurement survey of its major suppliers to assess and evaluate the status of their human rights, labor, environmental conservation, and other initiatives.

Overview of the survey

Companies to request In the 2022 fiscal year, SKY Perfect JSAT Corporation distributed survey questionnaires to the top 29 trading partners based on their purchase amounts and requested their responses. The companies were categorized by their business divisions:
・Space Business Unit: 11 companies
・Media Business Unit: 16 companies
・Corporate Administration Unit: 2 companies
Survey contents The survey was conducted using the Self-Assessment Questionnaire (SAQ)*, which was created in 2017 by the United Nations Global Compact Network Japan (GCNJ) and is common across various industries.

  • *The SAQ is based on the 10 principles of the Global Compact, international guidelines such as ISO 26000 and CSR questionnaires from specific industries and identifies nine core items: (1) Corporate governance related to CSR, (2) Human rights, (3) Labor, (4) Environment, (5) Fair corporate activities, (6) Quality, (7) Information security, (8) Supply chain, (9) Coexistence with local communities, that can be shared between buyers and suppliers regardless of industry.

Results of the survey

SKY Perfect JSAT Corporation received responses from 26 of the 29 companies surveyed, and the response rate was 90%. The average score rate*  for the total of the nine items was 82%, with high scores for information security, corporate governance, labor, fair business practices, and quality and safety, and slightly lower scores for the environment, supply chain, and communities.

Risk analysis

The results of the evaluation, which were grouped based on the score ratings, of the efforts of the suppliers who responded to the questionnaire, are shown below. Through the survey, SKY Perfect JSAT Corporation assess the CSR promotion status of each supplier and provide feedback on the survey results. For suppliers where risks are perceived to be high, we conduct feedback sessions and engage in discussions to drive improvement initiatives.

SKY Perfect JSAT Corporation will continue to conduct regular questionnaires for the purpose of assessing and analyzing supply chain risks. We will also expand the number of suppliers subject to the survey and improve the implementation system. By continuing activities in accordance with our supplier guidelines, we aim to realize sustainable procurement.
