Forward-Looking Initiatives
―――Can you tell us about the activities of the Asia Regional Headquarters (Singapore Branch) with a focus on the future?
Mochida:In Southeast Asia, particularly in island nations, there are still many areas where communication infrastructure is underdeveloped. We are constantly thinking about how we can bring reliable communication services to those people. We approach this mission with a strong sense of commitment, believing that providing communication infrastructure is something only we can do.
―――Your sense of mission is clear. Could you share some specific initiatives?
Mochida:First, we provide satellite communication services (satellite links) to telecommunication and mobile operators. In the Asia-Pacific region, there are still many areas where ground or mobile networks are insufficient. In these areas, satellite links often serve as the primary communication channel, or as backup when submarine cables are present. We also support media content distribution through satellite networks.
Second, we are planning to launch next-generation satellites, "Superbird-9" and "JSAT-31." These will allow us to provide satellite communication services at lower costs while significantly increasing capacity and speed compared to previous generations.
Third, as one of our materiality themes, "Promoting Partnerships," we are actively seeking partnerships for global expansion. We see growing demand for our services in the Asia-Pacific region, and we are working to connect with international companies to build these crucial partnerships.
Addressing Social Issues Through Our Work
―――How do you think providing our services can solve social issues or help people in need?
Mochida:I aim to contribute to a society where anyone can have connectivity anytime, anywhere. For instance, in island countries like Indonesia, the government is challenged to provide communication to the citizens. By eliminating digital divide, I hope that people can access information freely and equally.
Additionally, I believe that supporting education with our services is extremely important. We have partnered with the University of the South Pacific (USP) to provide satellite communication links, cross-connecting USP’s campuses in various countries across the Pacific islands where the university provides education to the people on islands. Since it is practically difficult for university professors to travel between islands, our satellite communication links enable the delivery of lectures to these campuses, allowing students to attend classes remotely.
I believe that if young people can receive high-quality education such as university lectures, society will further improve to become a better one.
In Papua New Guinea, we provide satellite links to local telecom operators, which are used to deliver media content to homes. Knowing that we can contribute to families enjoying time together in front of the TV brings me immense joy.

―――It’s inspiring to know that your work impacts both education and people’s leisure. What moments bring you the most satisfaction in your work?
Tanaka:When clients approach us with a project, we design communication links, deciding how to connect different points, such as across the sea or at airports. It gives me a great sense of pride to contribute to vital infrastructure across various countries in the Asia-Pacific region.
―――It is clear that both of you feel a strong connection to society through your work.
New Challenges and Initiatives
―――What do you consider most important in your future efforts?
Mochida:For our company to keep evolving and creating new value, we need to approach our business with agility. Collaboration with other companies will be a key strategy moving forward. Singapore, with its low corporate taxes and strong support for startups, is home to many vibrant companies. By participating in events, I aim to continuously update my knowledge and mindset while building connections with various businesses.
