We recogniaze human resources as indispensable and important assets for creating value through active collaboration. The SKY Perfect JSAT Group has set up working environment and in-house systems to ensure that all of our employees can work safely and securely. We are committed to the growth and performance of each individual.

Targets, KPI, and Results related to Society

The SKY Perfect JSAT Group is working towards "Active participation of diverse human resources" by 2030. We have set long-term KPIs in the form of labor productivity, ratio of female managers, and engagement indicators. Every year, we set achievement targets which include the percentage of men taking childcare leave and the number of employees who undergo legally-required medical checkups and stress checks. The average days of male childcare leave was 53.5 days, which was 60.0% as of the end of fiscal 2023.

Strengthening of Human Capital

In order to strengthen human capital, we are working on two pillars: the Human Resources Strategy, which actively invests human capital in the focus areas in both the space and media business segments, and the Strengthening of Engagement, which enables human resources to demonstrate their capabilities.

Human Resources Strategy

In our Human Resource Strategy, we seek individuals who can respond to changes in the environment and become the driving force for transformation, growth, and improvement. Under our Human Resources Development Policy of "Unleash and maximize the capabilities of each employee that will contribute to our services," we focus on hiring and developing the desired talent, as well as actively deploying individuals to key areas and promoting high performers early to maximize individual performance and improve productivity.
As part of this initiative, we revised our Human Resources System in April 2023. The new Human Resources System aims to create growth opportunities tailored to the tasks and skills of our group employees, leading to talent management and optimal human resource allocation. It facilitates job-based hiring that allows for assignments across organizations and levels and separates roles from ranks to promote agile talent recruitment.

After joining the company, we provide regular hierarchical training following the new employee training, offering opportunities for skill enhancement.

● Overseas Study Program
Aiming to cultivate future executive candidates with advanced expertise and a global perspective, we conduct internal recruitment for study abroad candidates among young and mid-level employees and send them to overseas graduate schools.

Communication with Employees

Employee Representation System

SKY Perfect JSAT Corporation has introduced an employee representative system that seeks the opinions of employee representatives when drafting or changing labor-management agreements and work rules. Employee representatives are elected at each business site by candidacy or nomination. In addition to ensuring thorough compliance with the Labor Standards Act, the entire company appropriately manages working hours in order to comply with labor-management agreements (36 Agreements) and work rules concluded with employee representatives.

Commendation System

In line with the purpose of the Group Mission and Action Guidelines, SKY Perfect JSAT Corporation has introduced an award system for teams or individuals who have contributed to solving social issues and contributing to sustainable growth. By sharing excellent initiatives, we are able to improve employee motivation and foster a sense of unity.

Employee Stock Ownership Plan

We have introduced an employee stock ownership plan as a system to support the welfare and asset formation of SKY Perfect JSAT employees (full-time employees who have been with the company for six months or more or more, and those who have been assigned overseas). Employees who join the company can continue to purchase shares of SKY Perfect JSAT Holdings from their monthly salary and bonus, and receive an incentive (20%) from the company on their individual contributions.

Regional and Community Development

We contribute to regions and communities by utilizing our own resources and cooperating with external organizations.

Education support project for Southeast Asian countries

Cooperating with the National Federation of UNESCO Associations in Japan to support the SKY Perfect JSAT School in Cambodia

Regional and Community Development

Participating in the Toyo-Shinsuna District Canal Project, which is a public-private project in Koto Ward where the SKY PerfecTV! Tokyo Media Center is located. The project aims to create a lively waterside space that contributes to disaster prevention and health.

Education and Academic Support Activities

  • Participation in an industry-academia collaboration project with Kanazawa College of Art (Theme: "M O V E" - Creating emotional experiences through the movement of material and immaterial; creating new value using space networks)
  • Conducting lectures at Kyushu Institute of Technology (Theme: Utilization of space in the telecommunications and broadcasting fields)
  • Conducting a donation course on the theme of "Space Business and Contributions in Disaster Areas Surrounding Japan and the U.S." as part of a short-term study abroad program hosted by the George Washington University.
  • Donation to a pitch competition event for student hosted by Space & Satellite Professionals International (SSPI)
  • Sponsorship of the national competition "Science Koshien," where junior high and high school students from across the country compete in scientific thinking and skills, organized by the Japan Science and Technology Agency.
  • Hosting a workshop for high school students to create videos about the business of SKY Perfect JSAT Corporation from a sustainability perspective.

Activities in Culture, Art, and Sports

  • Sponsoring and live streaming of the "Hawks Cup Queens Tournament," which determines the top girls' hardball baseball teams in high schools and universities in the Kyushu and Okinawa regions.
  • Implementation of live streaming for all matches in the Kansai Big6 Baseball League, which had previously received little media exposure (FY2023).
  • Collaboration with the Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks to conduct live broadcasts of a middle school baseball tournament aimed at revitalizing sports for the younger generation.
  • Free broadcasting and streaming of the "Take Back That Summer Project," an exchange match to reclaim the Koshien Tournament at the summer that was canceled due to COVID-19 (FY2023).

Donation Activities

  • Made donations to foundations, etc., related to our business for the purpose of supporting their growth
  • At the Annual General Meeting of Shareholders, we donated the postage cost of voting forms saved through smart voting to Médecins Sans Frontières
  • A portion of the proceeds from “Sea Crayons” created by extracting ocean colors from satellite images was donated to the Republic of Kiribati, which is facing the threat of sea level rise due to climate change
