Social Initiatives

Our company aims to be an attractive organization chosen by Japanese and overseas partners. Human resources are indispensable and important assets for creating value through active collaboration. The SKY Perfect JSAT Group has created a working environment and systems to ensure that all employees can work safely and securely. We are committed to the growth and performance of each individual.

The Group holds important information; for example, customer information for the services we provide in the Media Business and technical information in the Space Business. Accordingly, strong information security and protection of personal information is one materiality which the SKY Perfect JSAT Group is working to address.

Targets, KPI, and Results related to Society

The SKY Perfect JSAT Group is working to empower diverse human resources by 2025. We have set long-term KPIs in the form of labor productivity, ratio of female managers, and engagement indicators. Every year, we set achievement targets which include the percentage of men taking childcare leave and the number of employees who undergo legally-required medical checkups and stress checks. The average number of childcare leave days taken by men was 32 days, which was 52.2% as of the end of fiscal 2022.

In fiscal 2023, we have set the new goal of formulating a Human Rights Policy based on our recognition for the importance of respecting human rights.

Human Resources Strategy

The SKY Perfect JSAT Group believes that human capital is extremely important in achieving sustainable growth for society and our company. For this reason, we refer to our human resources as “human assets.” We have defined our human resources strategy as “revitalizing the people and organizations that are the driving force for change.” We aim to be a company where each officer and employee can maximize their abilities and work with enthusiasm.

In terms of human capital investment, we have defined the materialities of “securing and nurturing human assets capable of dealing with changes in the business environment and promoting transformation” and “achieving DE&I that encourages diverse human assets to excel.” When it comes to strengthening engagement, we have set the materiality of “creating a safe and secure organization whose employees respect each other.” To this end, we intend to draw up and execute appropriate short- and long-term plans.

Human Capital Investment

When it comes to investing in human capital, SKY Perfect JSAT Group places the greatest importance on “securing and nurturing human assets capable of dealing with changes in the business environment and promoting transformation” and “achieving DE&I that encourages diverse human assets to excel.” To this end, we aim to establish growth opportunities tailored to the skills and tasks of individual employees, and to ensure this translates into the talent management and the optimal allocation of our human resources.

As part of these efforts, our core business company, SKY Perfect JSAT Corporation, significantly revised its human resources system in April 2023. The ideal form of our company and employees envisioned by the SKY Perfect JSAT Group is one in which our company maximizes its human resources, and employees are able to autonomously chart their own careers as experts in their respective fields, thereby increasing corporate value from a human perspective. Securing and nurturing human assets capable of dealing with changes in the business environment and promoting transformation

We are working on a wide range of recruiting and nurturing initiatives: increasing our recruitment of mid-career employees in order to maintain our readiness and strengthen our core domains; offering employees opportunities for career development; providing a personal development support system so that they can continuously self-develop skills and develop their career paths independently; building leadership that promotes transformation; and improving the ability of management to draw out individual strengths.

In terms of allocating and promoting employees, we are engaging in the following initiatives: visualizing employee skills and tasks, and linking them to our business portfolios; enabling the early selection and promotion of high performers, who form the core of our human assets; strengthening talent management by ensuring a strong pool of human assets; and expanding the authority and responsibilities of the human affairs in each unit.

Recruitment and Nurturing
  • Improve the ability of management to draw out individual strengths
  • Offer employees opportunities for career development, and provide a personal development support system so that they can continuously self-develop skills and develop their career paths independently
  • Build leadership that promotes transformation
  • Expand recruitment routes (new graduates/mid-career)

We are shifting our training programs to a style that emphasizes independence. We have also established systems to support employee growth, such as subsidizing 50% to 70% of costs to encourage self-development by employees. Furthermore, we provide exam fees and incentives for acquiring TOEIC and other certifications designated by our company.

We also conduct job-rank specific training according to year. New employees receive training upon joining the company. This is followed by job-rank specific training in their 3rd, 5th, and 11th years, thereby providing employees with regular opportunities to improve their skills.

Our study abroad system aims to nurture future candidates for an executive position with a high level of expertise and a cosmopolitan way of thinking. We internally recruit young and mid-career employees to participate in the study abroad system. Those accepted are sent to graduate schools abroad.

Achieving DE&I that encourages diverse human assets to excel

The SKY Perfect JSAT Group treats and evaluates the skills of all its employees with impartiality, regardless of external factors such as gender, age, or nationality, or of internal factors such as beliefs and values. We believe that achieving a diverse environment encourages innovation. In particular, we have established flexible work styles, such as teleworking so that employees who are raising children or caring for family members can maximize their abilities by balancing work and family life. We have also started holding child-raising seminars, and providing subsidies for babysitter fees. At SKY Perfect JSAT Corporation, 100% of female employees have returned to work after taking childcare leave over the last five years, and more than half of male employees now also take childcare leave. We are also working to promote active participation by women, update our grading and wage systems to help older employees excel, and promote understanding of LGBTQ+ among employees.

Active Participation by Women

In order to promote the active participation of women, we have formulated the General Business Operator Action Plan based on the Act on Advancement of Measures to Support Raising Next-Generation Children (enacted in July 2003) and the Act on the Promotion of Women's Active Engagement in Professional Life (enacted in April 2016).
