Notice of Successful Launch of JCSAT-17 Communications Satellite

  SKY Perfect JSAT Holdings Inc. (Head Office: Minato-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director, President: Eiichi Yonekura) and its wholly-owned subsidiary SKY Perfect JSAT Corporation (Head Office: Minato-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director, President & Chief Executive Officer: Eiichi Yonekura; SKY Perfect JSAT) announce the successful launch of the JCSAT-17 communications satellite.

  JCSAT-17 was launched aboard Arianespace’s Ariane-5ECA launch vehicle from Guiana Space Centre, French Guiana at 7:18 a.m. on February 19, 2020 Japan Standard Time(JST). The satellite was separated from the launch vehicle at 7:45 a.m JST. Moving forward, satellite operations will begin once in-orbit testing verifies JCSAT-17 satellite’s nominal performance.

  JCSAT-17 payloads incorporates S-band, C-band, and Ku-band transponders, which will provide satellite communications service. S-band and C-band transponders will serve for NTT DOCOMO, Inc, the largest telecommunications company in Japan, for its flexible mobile communications services in Japan and the surrounding region under IRU contract*. SKY Perfect JSAT will support NTT DOCOMO’s satellite communications service.
