About the SKY Perfect JSAT Group
The SKY Perfect JSAT Group is expanding two businesses: SKY PerfecTV!, the largest multichannel pay TV broadcast service in Japan, and the largest space-related business in Asia. Please see our "Business Overview" page for details.
In July 2018, we established a new group mission statement: "Space for your Smile." Please see our "Group Mission Statement" page for details.
The initial letter 'S' in 'SKY PerfecTV!' and the initial 'J' in 'JSAT' have been intertwined organically to create the dynamic shape of a person who combines these two skills, and it powerfully represents the "new winds" that the SKY Perfect JSAT Group has created as well as its attitude of continually creating new things.

About the Space Business
SKY Perfect JSAT is the only private satellite communications operator in Japan, and the largest operator in Asia. Using communication satellites that orbit 36,000 kilometers above the equator, we have developed our business on a global scale, with our satellites covering all of Japan and Asia, as well as Oceania and North America. Using this satellite infrastructure, we broadcast programs on our SKY PerfecTV! platform, provide internet connections that are used on airplanes, and supply relay circuits for terrestrial television station, while also playing a vital role in safety and security through the provision of disaster-response and crisis management communications infrastructure to government agencies and municipalities throughout Japan, and to a large number of companies that support lifelines such as electricity, gas, and oil. For more details, please see the "Space Business" page.
For details, please see the "Services" page of the Space Business Service Site.
For details, please see the "Satellite Fleet" page of the Space Business Service Site.
Although our orbiting communication satellites cannot be recovered or repaired, they are fitted with backup functions that enable us to continue providing the communication services even if some equipment fails by switching over to these backup functions. In addition, to prepare for scenarios in which a communication satellite can no longer be used, we maintain a number of backup satellites that can be used to provide services in place of the broken satellite. Our operational communication satellites are also insured.
The average lifespan of a communication satellite is about 10 to 15 years. Since artificial satellites are affected by the gravity of the earth and moon, it is necessary to adjust the orbit location and control the satellite's attitude using fuel mounted on the satellite. The time it takes to use up this fuel is equal to the lifespan of the artificial satellite.
