The event "Shiohama Canal and Waterfront Experiment 2023" sponsored by the Toyo-Shinsuna District Canal Renaissance Council was held on October 27 and 28.

The Toyo-Shinsuna District Canal Renaissance Council is working to create a healthy and disaster prevention community around the Shiohama Canal that makes use of the waterfront, and SKY Perfect JSAT (hereinafter referred to as "the Company"), which has a base "SKY Perfect Tokyo Media Center" (hereinafter referred to as "Media Center") along the Shiohama Canal, has also participated since FY2019.

This event "Shiohama Canal and Waterfront Experiment 2023" is " Under the theme of "Utilization of Waterfront Spaces, Environmental Learning, and Disaster Prevention," the event was held with the aim of raising awareness of the value of waterfront spaces and promoting the creation of opportunities for collaboration with surrounding companies and related organizations. This year was the fourth time the event was held.

We have been participating in such events for the second time in a row.
This time, we will focus on the "Group Disaster Prevention Drill Race Using the Disaster Prevention Evacuation Boat E-BOAT", which we participate in every time with enthusiasm.

Disaster Prevention Evacuation Drill E-Boat Race "Shiohama Canal Cup"

The Shiohama Canal Cup was a team race using the E-BOAT, a disaster prevention evacuation boat, and a total of six teams from companies and organizations located around the Shiohama Canal participated.
The purpose of the race is to raise awareness of disaster prevention, improve cooperation with surrounding companies and regional capabilities, and revitalize the Shinsa Toyo area.

In the race, you will travel back and forth on a 150m course in an E-BOAT and compete for the time. An e-boat is a gondola-type canoe that seats 10 people and is usually used for walking around the water and for disaster prevention purposes.

Even before the race, the area around the canal, where the race will be held, has become an event that attracts so much attention that many participants and teams cheer for each team, and we have been participating since the year before last and won the first championship last year!
Aiming to win back-to-back titles, 10 employees working at the Media Center and Akasaka Main Company participated. New employees who were confident in their physical strength were also called up to take on the challenge.

■Orientation
At the orientation, the purpose of the event and how to wear a life jacket were explained.

■Time Trial
First of all, there was a time trial where we had to go back and forth for 150m. Our team, aiming to win the championship, took on the challenge with enthusiasm from the trials, and came in first place overall.
(By winning the first place in the preliminary round, we will be seeded from the semi-finals of the final tournament)

■How to spend the practice time
In the finals, a regulation will be added that the "life rope" must be hit before the start. The responsibility of this person in charge was serious, so Mr. Senzawa, the general manager of the Media Technology Division, which has jurisdiction over the media center, was in charge.

After that, we won the semi-finals and finally reached the final
When we waited on the boat, the wind picked up and we had to wait for 10 minutes while drifting down the river. The stage is finally set for the final. Members of our company pray for the success of Executive Officer Senzawa's target. Throw both life ropes with the gun and start!

On the Shiohama Stage, there were stage performances by artists and people active in the community, and our music circle "Toransponda" performed. There was also an introduction to fish that live near the water.
Employees who participated in the program said that they were able to interact with neighbors and learn about disaster prevention, including how to use e-boats.
We have set "development of local communities" as one of our key issues, and we would like to value communication with local residents. In the future, we will continue to actively participate in the "Shiohama Canal and Waterside Experiment" and other local events.
