This time, we interviewed two members who are working on the Media Hub business, which is a solution for efficient video distribution. The Media Hub business is SKY Perfec! It is a solution that utilizes the video distribution platform of the company to efficiently realize video distribution.

We will introduce our efforts to realize a new enrichment of life through the provision of platforms and services that can transmit all kinds of things such as video and information in real time.

What is the value provided by the Media HUB business

―――Please tell us what the Media HUB business is and what you are aiming for in the future.

Mr. Ukai: First of all, to explain the Media Hub business in an easy-to-understand manner, we process the signals for materials such as Contents(programs) that gather at the SKY Perfect Tokyo Media Center (TMC) as necessary, and branch and transmit them according to the application.

Media Hub has been built mainly on hardware since the late 90s, but SKY Perfect JSAT aims to transform it into an even more efficient and stable service by utilizing the cloud.

―――What kind of value can we provide to society?

Mr. Ukai: I believe that our service can provide real-time information to bases nationwide using the network, and create "added value for live performances."
It would be great if we could play a role in solving the problems of customers who want to disseminate information live, and delivering useful information to their customers. In particular, I think our position is to establish that we can provide a system that is of high quality and confidential at a low cost.

―――What exactly are the intended uses?

Mr. Funahara: For example, an event held in a shopping center can be displayed on a signage at other stores nationwide. In the case of schools and medical care, it is possible to deliver live video of a lecture or treatment by a famous doctor to people in other places, and to display information that takes advantage of real-time nature on monitors in all retail stores.

―――One of our materialities is to support the entry of diverse Contents holders and promote Contents distribution, but how do you see your relationship with the Media Hub business?

Mr. Funahara: Well, first of all, from the perspective of Contents holders, we can distribute to various places just by going through our company, and from the perspective of service users, we can access various Contents at once, so I think we are contributing to the provision of a variety of Contents.

Mr. Ukai: I think that SKY Perfect JSAT is a Infrastructure company that provides platforms, and if you think that it is behind various social infrastructures, I think there is a possibility that we can make a wider contribution.

The Media Hub business provides an environment where you can communicate on your own. When we think of the " Contents" that we transmit, we tend to think of a program, but it also includes information about products, data, and all kinds of things Contents.

About the connection between the Media HUB business and the environment

―――Is the Media HUB business positive for the environment?

Mr. Funahara: We believe that the Media Hub business can contribute to the environmental impact and energy use efficiency. What this means is that Media HUB Cloud is a service that utilizes the cloud infrastructure used by our SPOOX and program distribution. With the cloud, you don't need to prepare on-premise equipment, and you need to make less new hardware, which I think is good for the environment.

On-premise = A form of use of a system in which the company owns and operates the servers, network equipment, software, etc. necessary for the operation and Infrastructure construction of the system.

In addition, rather than each Contents holder preparing their own distribution environment, we believe that using our company, which distributes collectively, leads to efficient use of resources such as servers for both our customers and our company.

What are your future initiatives and challenges

Please tell us about your future challenges.

Mr. Funahara: The other day, an article was published in the Nikkei Shimbun about a service that supports video distribution for companies, and a press release was also issued. People tend to think that the usage fee is high, but in fact, we have a gentle price. First of all, I would like to convey the value of our services so that many people will be aware that we are providing such services.
