"Future Stories" is a series of interviews with Group employees about their efforts to lead to a future of Space for your Smile.

This time, we interviewed an employee of the Asia Division (Singapore Branch) of SKY Perfect JSAT Corporation (hereinafter referred to as "the Company" Space Business) regarding "(1)-1 Provision of Broadcasting and telecommunications Infrastructure to all areas and environments," which is one of the materiality issues set forth by SKY Perfect JSAT Corporation (hereinafter referred to as "the Company").
This is an interview with him about his efforts in the Asia-Pacific region and the connection between his work and sustainability and social issues.

Initiatives in the Asia-Pacific Region

―――First of all, please tell us that the Asia Division (Singapore Branch) is working with an eye on the future.

Mr. Mochida: In Southeast Asia, especially in island countries, there are many areas where the communication environment is still not in place.
Every day, we think about how to deliver the communication environment to the people who live there.

―――I can tell that you are working with a sense of mission.

Mr. Mochida: The first is Telecommunication carriers・Provision of satellite communication services (satellite lines) to mobile carriers. In the Asia-Pacific region, there are still many areas where Ground-based lines and mobile lines are not available, so there are cases where satellite lines are used as the main line in those areas. If there is a submarine cable running through it, it is used as a backup line.
They may also have satellite links for media Contents distribution.

The second plan is to introduce the next-generation Superbird-9 and JSAT-31 satellites. This will enable us to provide satellite links with lower cost and several levels higher capacity and speed than before.

Thirdly, building Partners ships is one of the Group's key issues.
It is also an important role to explore Partners rings for the international expansion of our business.
We are aware of the needs of our businesses in the Asia-Pacific region, which are currently mainly developed in Japan, so we are working to communicate these to overseas companies and promote Partners rings.

Connections between Business and Social Issues

―――What kind of social issues do you think the service will lead to solving or helping people in need?

Mr. Mochida: I would like to reduce the number of areas without a communication environment as much as possible and contribute to the realization of a society where anyone can connect at any time.
For example, in island nations such as Indonesia, the government is also facing the challenge of providing a communication environment to the people.

I also think it's very important to be involved in education.
We've partnered with The University of the South Pacific (USP) to provide satellite links.
USP has campuses in each country in the Pacific Islands and provides education to people on the small islands.
While it was practically difficult for university professors to travel between the islands, we were able to use our satellite links to deliver classes to campuses on the islands, allowing students to take classes remotely.

I believe that if young people can receive high-quality education, such as university classes, society will be even better.

We also provide our satellite links to Telecommunication carriers in Papua New Guinea, which is used to deliver media Contents to homes.
It's very gratifying to think that we're providing an environment where families can have a good time watching TV.

Mr. Mochida visits various places in the Pacific Islands

―――I'm proud to be involved in education and people's entertainment, and what do you find particularly rewarding in your work?

Mr. Tanaka: When we receive inquiries from customers, we design the lines from which point to which the communication line will be connected, and we sometimes consider communication lines at Sea-borne and airports. I am proud to be contributing to the important Infrastructure of various countries in the Asia-Pacific region.

―――The feeling that you are contributing to society makes you even more motivated to work.

New Challenges and Initiatives

―――What are the most important things you think are important to us in our future efforts?

Mr. Mochida: In order for us to continue to evolve and create new value, we need to work on our business with a sense of urgency, and we believe that cooperation with other companies is one of the important ways to achieve this.
Singapore has a low corporate tax rate, and there is support for entrepreneurship throughout the country, and there are many active companies, including startups.
I would like to actively participate in events and update my knowledge and mindset while building connections with various companies.
