SKY Perfect JSAT Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "the Company") gave a lecture at the special lecture "Series Cosmology" held at Kagoshima Prefectural Kusuhaya Junior and Senior High School (hereinafter referred to as "Kusuhaya High School") in June and July 2024.

At Kusuhaya High School, students deepen their understanding of the space business through lectures by engineers and researchers involved in the space business, and by setting their own themes and engaging in exploration activities, we aim to develop a broad perspective, curiosity, a spirit of adventure and inquiry, and a spirit of craftsmanship.
The special lecture series 'Cosmology' is part of this effort, and we gave a lecture in the third of the five lectures.

Special Lecture "Challenges of Solution Business Using Satellite Data"

The theme of the lecture was 'The Challenge of the Solution Business Using Satellite Data.'

In the first half of the lecture, we explained the outline of our company, the current state of the space industry, and the mechanism of Low-earth orbit satellites and small synthetic aperture radar satellites (SAR satellites).
In the second half, we explained the use of satellite data with examples.
For example, in the 2016 cave-in accident around Hakata Station, which occurred in Kyushu when a road collapsed during subway construction, we were able to predict the signs of the accident using SAR satellite imagery analysis data, and we provided an oil leak detection service using SAR satellites to the Qatari government. In the comment paper shared at a later date, many students wrote about the cave-in accident around Hakata Station and the oil leak detection service using SAR satellites, which seemed to be impressive in the lecture.

In the Q&A session after the lecture, Dr. Hirata asked a wide range of questions, such as space laws such as 'Where can observation satellites be seen?' about the effects of solar flares on satellites, and about going to university.

I had the experience of giving lectures to people outside the company before, but this was the first time I had taught a class for high school students. During the preparation, it was also an opportunity to rethink the satellite data itself and the value that we provide to society.
In the Q&A session after the class, there were questions not only about our business and satellite data, but also about going on to higher education and careers, and we were able to actively exchange opinions with the high school students. It was truly "Learning by Teaching."

We are engaged in educational support activities to develop human resources for future generations, and we will continue to provide opportunities to learn about space, satellites, and their applications.
