SKY Perfect JSAT Corporation (hereinafter, "SKY Perfect JSAT") participated in the "Space, Earth, and Environment Learning Event," a sustainability activity held by Thales Japan Co., Ltd. and Thales DIS Japan Co., Ltd.* (hereinafter, "Thales in Japan") as part of the "THALES Solidarity programme" for children at the St. Francis Children's Home on Sunday, November 23rd 2025.

Purpose of the event

Through its community engagement program “Thales Solidarity,” Thales Group* encourages young people to actively pursue careers in science. This event marks the first such initiative in Japan. Learning Session

During the morning “learning session,” our company gave a lecture on “Space and Satellites,” while Thales in Japan presented on “Earth Environment.” The “Space and Satellites” lecture used a quiz format to deepen understanding. Some questions were challenging even for adults, yet the children thought seriously about every question and energetically raised their hands to answer.

In the “Global Environment” lecture, the children learned about environmental issues facing our planet today, starting with climate change. Children learned specific ways to protect the environment against ocean pollution caused by marine plastic, global warming due to greenhouse gases like CO₂, and the increase in natural disasters such as typhoons and floods caused by extreme weather.

After the lecture, the children played a board game created by Thales Japan. Each time they landed on a space, they were quizzed on the knowledge they had learned, allowing them to review the day's lessons in a practical way.

The game was a team competition divided into three teams, and the children, who love both games and competition, were thoroughly excited and seemed to learn while having fun.

Experiential Session

In the afternoon, the participants moved to Yokosuka City and conducted a beach cleanup at Hashirimizu Beach. Due to the tidal currents and wind patterns in Tokyo Bay, Hashirimizu Beach tends to accumulate debris flowing out from the bay, and it was littered with a significant amount of trash. The items found—food packaging, plastic bottles, and small plastic fragments—were all sources of concern for marine plastic pollution, making us keenly aware that environmental issues are a very real, immediate problem.

This joint event with SKY Perfect JSAT has provided an excellent opportunity to spark children's interest in environmental protection”.

Our group has identified “Regional and Community Development—For the Next Generation and for the Region” as one of our key themes. Through this initiative, we reaffirmed our cooperative relationship with Thales in Japan and renewed our recognition of the significance of working together. Building on this foundation, we will continue to contribute to society's sustainable development through initiatives such as educational support for the next generation.
