SKY Perfect JSAT Corporation (Head Office: Minato-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director, President & Chief Executive Officer: Eiichi Yonekura; “SKY Perfect JSAT”) has announced its provision of three types of maritime communication services on the new cruise ship “Asuka III,” scheduled to launch on July 20, 2025, by NYK CRUISES Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Nishi-ku Yokohama, Kanagawa: President: Yuji Nishijima; “NYK CRUISES”).

  The services include SKY Perfect JSAT’s satellite communication service “JSATMarine,” as well as Inmarsat’s “Fleet Xpress” and SpaceX’s “Starlink Business,” both of which SKY Perfect JSAT serves as a distributor. These offerings will support a wide range of communication needs—from everyday passengers’ needs such as video streaming and social media, to operational communications between ship-to-shore, and crew welfare—contributing to a safer and more comfortable cruise experience.

   By working together in a complementary manner, these three communication services introduced on “Asuka III” contribute to the development of a multi-layered and highly reliable maritime communication infrastructure. “JSATMarine” is SKY Perfect JSAT’s proprietary service, fully managed in-house—from satellite and ground station operations to network provisioning—and serves as the primary channel for ship-to-shore operational communications. This service plays a vital role in ensuring stable connectivity for voyage management and onboard systems.

  “Fleet Xpress” is provided through JSAT Mobile Communications Inc., a subsidiary of SKY Perfect JSAT. This service utilizes satellites operated by Inmarsat and features a hybrid configuration that combines both Ka-band and L-band frequencies, enabling complementary coverage and enhanced connectivity. Onboard “Asuka III,” one antenna for each band has been installed to ensure highly redundant, global, secure, and stable connectivity.

　“Starlink Business” is a high-speed, high-capacity communication service powered by SpaceX’s low Earth orbit satellites. It enables passengers to enjoy video streaming and social media even while at sea. Crew members can also use video calls and social media to stay connected with their families, contributing to enhanced welfare and quality of life onboard.
