Tokyo, Japan, September 29, 2026 –SKY Perfect JSAT Corporation (“SKY Perfect JSAT”) announced today that it will join “Space cross Nexus” as a cluster member. Led by General Incorporated Association cross U (“cross U”), Space cross Nexus is an innovation cluster*1 focused on the space sector and selected for the Tokyo Metropolitan Government’s Cluster Creation Project for Global Innovation (TIB CATAPULT *2).

Bringing space-related businesses to market requires advanced technologies, large-scale infrastructure, and specialized expertise across a broad range of areas, from the development and manufacturing of satellites, launch vehicles, and other space systems to launch services, in-orbit demonstrations, and ground station operations. For startups seeking to expand globally, access to demonstration opportunities, a proven track record in Japan, and sustained relationships with overseas companies, research institutions, investors, and other stakeholders are equally critical.

Space cross Nexus will draw on cross U’s space business community and extensive networks in Japan and overseas to identify promising startups that can address the challenges and needs of cluster members*3 and cross U member companies. It will provide end-to-end support, from connecting startups with potential corporate partners and facilitating demonstration projects to helping them expand into international markets.

Through its participation in Space cross Nexus, SKY Perfect JSAT will strengthen collaboration with startups, research institutions, and companies. Drawing on the expertise and assets it has built over more than 40 years in the space business, SKY Perfect JSAT will help enhance the competitiveness and sustainable growth of Japan’s space industry while contributing to the creation of new value.

Since FY2024, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government has been implementing “TIB CATAPULT” (officially, the Global Cluster Creation Project), based on the platform formed at Tokyo Innovation Base (TIB), an innovation hub operated by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government.The project aims to support startup collaboration efforts in various industries and technology areas in Tokyo, with a focus on fields where future growth is expected.Through this project, “innovation clusters,” which are communities consisting of multiple business operators such as companies and investors, generate collaborative projects between startups and large enterprises and other entities, thereby contributing to the growth of startups, particularly startups from Tokyo and Japan that can succeed globally.
On September 1, 2026, Space cross Nexus, the space-sector cluster in which SKY Perfect JSAT participates, was selected as one of six newly adopted innovation clusters in the fields of materials, beauty and wellness, tourism, space, deep tech, and environment and healthcare.
