The earthquake that struck central Myanmar in March 2025 severely affected the lives of many people, especially in telecommunications Infrastructure, where communication means remain largely non-functional. Under these circumstances, we examined what SKY Perfect JSAT could do and decided to provide satellite links free of charge

―What is the role of satellite links?

Satellite links are a means of communication that can be installed in a short period of time even if the Ground-based network is damaged by earthquakes, tsunamis, floods, etc., and it is also possible to communicate in areas where Ground-based lines are difficult to reach, such as mountainous areas and remote islands. Satellite links play an important role in disaster victims and rescue operations, providing faster and more reliable communication than other means of communication.

After the earthquake on March 28, we contacted our Myanmar satellite Telecommunication carriers South East Asia Net Technologies Myanmar Co., Ltd. (SEANET) on April 1 and asked them to use a satellite link for Disaster contingency planning.

Fortunately, there was plenty of free satellite bandwidth to expand the existing line, and there were no technical issues, and after agreeing with the other party, we were able to provide the service smoothly within 12 days after the earthquake.

About 150 people were able to use the internet via satellite links.

We have provided similar disaster relief in the past, and we used satellite links during the Great East Japan Earthquake.

This initiative is closely related to our mission and vision as a company Infrastructure. We made this initiative with the belief that we would turn the anxiety of as many people as possible into peace of mind. This is related to one of our Group missions, "Toward a society where anxiety is replaced by 'peace of mind,'" and we believe that we can deliver the value of peace of mind to people through communication.

In the future, we would like to make similar efforts not only for Yanma but also for countries with a lot of natural disasters, and we plan to detect the occurrence of secondary disasters at an early stage and follow up on the recovery status of telecommunications Infrastructure.
